Eleven o'clock and I've just taken a break from writing to enjoy a mug of coffee and one of these freshly baked cookies. In fact 'elevenses' is a fairly regular occurrence at my house. If you've not heard of elevenses before, it's described by the artist and blogger, Michael Nobbs, who's also a fellow elevenses fan, as: 'the rather British institution of sitting down at about eleven o'clock for a cup of something hot and maybe a sweet treat.'
Michael was participating in Rhiannon Connelly's* Five on Friday over at her blog, Starry Blue Sky and he goes on to describe five of his favourite elevenses treats. One of which is a slice of homemade cake, and as you can imagine, some homemade baking to accompany your tea or coffee is something that I definitely agree with!
These cookies have become a new favourite for elevenses, often using the basic cookie recipe but varying the additions. So, sometimes it's all sultanas and other times I might just replace the cherries with chunks of dark chocolate, depending on what ingredients are to hand.
