These unusual little vegetables are asparagus peas. Winding around the bases of the hazel wigwams supporting the climbing beans, they really are a lovely sight in the garden. And for weeks now they've been producing an abundance of beautiful deep red flowers and crinkled pods. They taste delicious too. A delicate flavour which is not dissimilar to asparagus. Usually, I just lightly steam the pods, although adding a handful or two to stir fries is also a great way to cook them.
